Donna Beasley: Calendar

WOW...great gig with my left-hand man, Tom Spaulding, on electric guitar, the occasional acoustic guitar, and 6-string banjo and Tony Paoletta on pedal steel and dobro. Neat room! Looking forward to doing it again.

What a nice bunch of folks over there at Hillybilly Haiku! We had a fun time, great food, and a gig Appalachian Therapy felt pretty darn good about. One could get pampered.

This was loads of fun with Tim and Marco! Tim did a couple of his songs, "TGV" and "What'll We Do Till Then" and I provided a little rhythm guitar on those. That's certainly a different role for me. Tim brings a rough roll and roll edge to everything he does -- so it was fun going there with him!

This was an amazing gig. I had Tom Spaulding on guitar, Marco Giovino on drums, and Bones Hillman formerly of Midnight Oil on bass. Elizabeth had a packed house. It was my first gig at the legendary Station Inn as an artist (I've sung with EC there several times). So, I was excited and happy to be playing there! When I finished, a guy yelled out "WOW! That was like rockabilly meets The Adams Family"! I LOVE IT!!!

Such a nice venue and such nice folks there. And they make a mean chi tea. I love playing there! (GREAT sound.)

Dunn Bros is such a nice venue! We had a fab time playing there tonight and hope to be back in May. Thanks to Kevan, the owner, and to Katie & Nenette for having us as their opener. Very much looking forward to playing there again!

I can add this evening's weather to the "near natural disaster conditions" through which I have gigged. Dunn Bros is a VERY nice place tho, and I may be getting a semi-regular slot! Thanks to those who braved the snow storm to come out and rally me!!

Thanks to those who came out Saturday afternoon! Had a fab time. Tom played electric this time around and Marco Giovino joined us on a little percussion -- a fine set up it was and a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

I had the pleasure of being accompanied by Tom Spaulding and Bob Britt on guitar, Steve Mackie on bass, and Marco Giovino on drums. I am in H-E-A-V-E-N in the hands of these fine musicians. When I die, if I go to the good place, I will get there to find these guys set up and waiting for me to join them.

So, finally Scott gets to join me but no Tom who is back on the road. We tried an acoustic version of "After Dark" with me on guitar and Scott on dobro. I felt good about it...don't know how it sounded "out there". ??? Thanks to Scott who sounded great as always. Solid player.

This was a fun show with just Tom and me! Scott Neubert was supposed to join us on dobro but had to cancel last minute. So, Tom and I went sorta bluegrass-y and, we thought, played a strong show. I'm just realizing that we haven't played anything just the two of us in a while. We need to do that more often!!!

Elizabeth had a terrific show and I was very proud to be a small part of it. The Peasall Sisters, of "O' Brother Where Art Thou" fame opened. They sounded great!

Good show, good times last night at The Family Wash, which really is the best hang in East Nashville, maybe ALL of Nashville. Thanks to Marco Giovino on drums, Lorne Rall on bass, and Tom Spaulding burning up the guitar. Looking forward to singing BGV's for Elizabeth Cook on the 16th as well as my remaining opening slots at The Wash for Kylie Harris this month. Thanks Kylie...you ROCK!!! And thanks to everyone who came out!

Thanks to Scott Neubert for backing me up last night. It sure is nice to hear him play dobro on "Rise Above". That's his beautiful rendering on the CD version of the same song. Talented guy!

WOW! This was an awesome show! We all had so much fun playing together. It was Marco Giovino on drums, Steve Mackey on bass, Bob Britt on guitar, and Tom Spaulding on guitar. We had the most amazing time...we are ready to take our show on the road IMMEDIATELY, except for the fact that I don't actually have any paying gigs yet. There's that.

I sang background vocals on Times Are Tough in Rock and Roll, Don't Go Borrowing Trouble, Mama's Prayers, Down Girl, and Rest Your Weary Mind. I sang on one more, but can't remember which one. It was one I don't usually sing on. I was just up there and kinda had to fake it. EC says Minton Sparks advised her once that, when singing and you don't know the words, just mouth "watermelon, watermelon, watermelon." So, I was spittin' a few seeds up there, but made myself of some use, I believe. Great night, great show. I blogged on it.
